Your Health Plans 

The City of Chattanooga offers employees two (2) medical plan options, each with two (2) network options to choose from.

You can elect the PPO plan or the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) with HSA. Whichever plan you choose, you will have comprehensive coverage administered by BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee (BCBST) that allows you to use BCBST's extensive national network of doctors and hospitals.

The primary difference in the plans are the premiums and the out-of-pocket costs for medical services. The High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) with HSA has a higher deductible, but you pay lower rates. The PPO plan has higher employee premiums but you have a lower deductible to meet before expenses can be paid.

What is the difference between Network S and Network P for medical insurance?

Network P and Network S are two network options through BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee (BCBST).  Physicians and hospitals may be included in one or both networks depending upon the agreements that they make with BCBST.  Network P is more comprehensive, but Network S includes almost all the same physicians and hospitals as Network P.  The main difference for hospitals is that Memorial Hospital is not in Network S.
